Five months inside the Crystal Paradis Mayoral campaign.

Recorded in July, October, and December 2021.

Special thanks to Crystal Paradis, Jules Good, and Morgan Little (for suggesting Mos Def's "Mathematics" for one of the interludes)

On today's podcast, a rebroadcast (for reasons stated at the top) of one of my earliest favorite episodes of the show. We're gonna do this from time to time.

A conversation about conversations about dying with Marsha Filion, Executive Director at Hospice Help Foundation.

Jul 8, 2021

In today's episode, I talk to Robert Sapiro from Green Acre (previously heard on episode 48, "The Bus Stop"-- P.S. have you noticed that I have started numbering the regular episodes now? I have been doing it a week or two after they post so as to not scare off any new listeners but I feel like it's a good way to separate the "silly nonsense" episodes from the "real" episodes -- though of course I love and respect both kinds of episodes!) about race, and some other stuff.

A conversation with Laurie Contrino about the arts, diversity, equity and inclusion. Also, some hand-wringing about the end of mask mandates.

A story about a doomed audio experiment I began recording with a friend last fall.

It's the third and final episode in our miniseries chatting about The Falcon and The Winter Soldier! In this episode we talk a lot about The Trial of the Chicago 7, as well as Watchmen, and the Secret Invasion comic book storyline.

Pretty soon (or I don't know, maybe not that soon?) we'll do a couple of regular episodes of the show. But in June or July, we'll do another series of episodes that is technically about "Loki" but will generally be about other stuff. So be on the lookout for both! Thanks for listening!

Intro music: "If Winter Ends," Bright Eyes

Outro music: "Via Chicago," Wilco

Who is the power broker? What's a contessa? Who is that guy who played Dr. Manhattan who is also in Spotlight? Isn't Spotlight a great movie? How is the Snyder Cut real? These questions and many more are asked if not answered in today's pod, which is part two of our fast and loose series which is technically a recap show about Marvel's THE FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER -- this week's episode also includes a long discussion about Zack Snyder's Justice League, possible plotlines for Black Panther 2, and a summary of the comic book series Flashpoint. I recorded most of this episode sitting in my backyard, which is why you can hear so many birds.

Intro music: "Major Leagues," Pavement

Outro music: "Flash Delirium," MGMT

The Little Brothers convene to survey the state of Marvel's 2nd TV show, THE FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER, after watching 4 out of 6 episodes. Contains spoilers, I guess. I mean if you don't watch the show this will be basically incomprehensible.

Intro music: "I Do Not Care For The Winter Sun," Beach House

Outro music: "Chasin' The Bird," Charlie Parker

Today's episode is about love, and vaccinations, and the fundamental impossibility of understanding your own past self.

Closing song: "International Women," Ivana XL
